On Tuesday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had written a letter to Jaishankar saying that around 7,000 people from the state were in Israel and sought his intervention to ensure their safety.

Foreign Minister reviewed Operation Ajay

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar reviewed the preparations for ‘Operation Ajay’ on Thursday. Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that about 18 thousand Indians are in Israel. They are appealed to register themselves with the Indian Embassy and heed the advisory. On the presence of Indian citizens in the Palestinian territories of West Bank and Gaza, the External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said that as per my knowledge, a few dozen people are in the West Bank, while 3-4 people are in Gaza.

This is the second rescue operation of this year

It is known that in April-May this year, Operation Kaveri was conducted by the Indian Armed Forces for the safe return of its citizens from Sudan. This is the second rescue operation of this year after ‘Operation Kaveri’ which brought back thousands of Indian citizens from conflict-torn Sudan. The first batch of Indian passengers flew to India from Tel Aviv on Thursday. The first batch included 212 people. The Indian Embassy will help those who want to go to India. Registration for this has started from Thursday. A helpline has been set up for Indian citizens.

He said special charter flights and other arrangements were being made. The first batch of Indians is expected to be brought back from Israel in a special flight on Thursday. Soon after Jaishankar’s announcement, the Indian Embassy in Israel said it had sent an e-mail to the first batch of Indians who registered for the special flight on Thursday. Messages will be sent to other registered people for further flights. A few days ago, during a phone conversation with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, PM Modi had expressed concern over the safety of Indians stranded there.

Immediately after Hamas’s rocket attack on Israel, PM Narendra Modi condemned the terrorist attack and strongly criticized all forms of terrorism.
